European Commissioner Roxana Mînzatu visited various parking spaces for trucks in Belgium on 3 September. This was an opportunity for her to find the big difference between the best -equipped parking spaces … and the other.
Roxana Mînzatu is not directly competent for transport, since this sector falls under the responsibility of the Greek Commissioner Apostolos Tzitzikostas. Mînzatu is responsible for high -quality jobs and social rights. In that capacity, she was invited by the IRU, the trade unions and the Esport Association for a tour of truck parking in Belgium, so that she could form a picture of the living conditions of professional drivers. The least we can say is that she has seen with her own eyes that there are different types of parking spaces. Between the new parking in Jabbeke along the E40 and the grounds where dozens of drivers spend the weekend in the Zeebrugge transport zone, the contrast was indeed striking! On the one hand a new, well -designed location with all the necessary facilities and on the other hand a dirty, muddy terrain without the most basic facilities.
