Egypt’s Ministry of Industry and Transport is developing a comprehensive strategy to localize the production of automotive sheet metal, as part of broader state efforts to strengthen local production and automotive supply chain integration, government minister Kamel El-Wazir said on 8 September.
The statement came at an expanded meeting chaired by El-Wazir with major steelmakers and representatives from the automotive and bus manufacturing sectors, according to a Cabinet statement. The meeting aimed to explore practical mechanisms to advance Egypt’s capacity in the production of motor vehicle bodies, an area which the Minister described as a national priority, the announcement added. El-Wazir stressed that the localization strategy focuses on sustainability in legislation, in incentives and in implementation frameworks.
