The Dutch logistics group E. van Wijk has taken over transport and distribution specialist Steenbergen BV. It is about the greatest acquisition in the history of E. van Wijk.
With this acquisition, the group is considerably expanding its activities in the Benelux. Steenbergen, with Belgian branches in Wommelgem and Chaaineux, was founded in 1907 and has more than 300 employees. It has a modern fleet of 180 vehicles and is active in distribution, warehousing and international transport. The company has positioned itself as a reliable partner in sectors such as Retail, Pharma and Nutrition.
The acquisition means an important step in the growth strategy of E. van Wijk. The workforce is growing to 1,200 employees and the joint fleet now comprises 550 vehicles. Steenbergen continues to operate within the group under its own name and management.
The take -over It is expected to be completed in the third quarter, after approval from the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets.
