Dunlop Tyre Europe’s new Blue Response TG summer touring tyre, the first Sumitomo Rubber Industries (SRI)-developed Dunlop summer tyre for the European market, was launched this week on the Circuito de Sevilla, one of the most technically demanding racetracks in Spain. The 4.2km circuit, which features 16 corners and an 822-metre straight, allowed Dunlop’s guests – 120 distribution and media partners – to sample the tyre’s performance characteristics. The company summarises the Blue Response TG’s target performance as “the art of perfect balance”, a tagline that represents the tyre’s mass market appeal. It combines low noise, reduced rolling resistance for fuel economy and extended range for EVs, and increased tread life with dynamic handling and safety characteristics.

Visitors to the Circuito de Sevilla were able to test the tyre on a dynamic, wet and dry slalom; perform braking manoeuvres with obstacle avoidance exercises; push the tyre to its limit around the track to experience its cornering performance, steering response and precision. In a guided tour of public roads, Dunlop’s guests also experienced the tyre in the general driving conditions for which the Blue Response TG is engineered. The test fleet was chosen to demonstrate the broad range of modern vehicles to which the tyre is suited, including the Audi e-tron, BMW 5 Series, Mercedes-Benz EQE, Mercedes-Benz G-Class, Toyota GR Yaris and Nissan GT-R R35. Dunlop said that this underscores the versatility of the new summer tyre, which is able to meet the everyday needs of the general motorist in the broad range of vehicles now in use on Europe’s roads: from premium electric vehicles to high-performance sports cars.

Dunlop states that the Blue Response TG was developed for the latest vehicle platforms and combines an optimised tread design, a new rubber compound and a reinforced structure. This technical advancement is intended to ensure precise handling, short braking distances, high wet grip and low rolling resistance – aimed at drivers who value safety, comfort and sporting stability in both everyday use and in demanding situations.

‘Suite of SRI technologies’ enable Dunlop Blue Response TG balance

The Blue Response TG’s broad capabilities are enabled by a suite of new SRI technologies that simultaneously offer stability and control on wet and dry roads, with performance under braking for enhanced safety and driver confidence. ‘TG’, short for ‘Touring’, signals the tyre’s ability to deliver long‑distance comfort and efficiency, helping drivers go further without compromising on performance.

The Blue Response TG features an intelligent three‑zone rib design efficiently channels water away from the contact patch to ensure stability at speed and unlock wet‑weather grip during direction changes. A refined shoulder design, with lateral grooves set at optimised angles, enhances tread rigidity to reduce block deformation under load and ensures consistent force transfer in corners and under braking.

A new tread compound uses longer, more resilient polymer chains to resist abrasion and slow wear to extend mileage without sacrificing performance, according to Dunlop. Rounding out the innovations, a noise‑reducing tread design links the lateral grooves into continuous channels that smooth airflow and damp vibration to deliver a noticeably quieter, more relaxing cabin environment and a composed ride.

The tyre was developed by Dunlop’s engineers in Germany and Japan, drawing on SRI’s existing engineering and manufacturing footprint. The Blue Response TG is produced in a state-of-the-art facility in Türkiye. The tyre is available from March 2026 in Europe.

“This is our first Dunlop event since the acquisition, which is precisely why the launch of our summer tyre is so important to us,” Markus Bögner, president and managing director of Dunlop Tyre Europe, explained. “Direct interaction with customers and the media here on site is crucial for us, as it is the only way we can hear their perspectives and continue to develop in a targeted manner.”
