DHL Global Forwarding and Hapag-Lloyd have signed a three-year agreement to make Supply Chains more sustainable through the use of sustainable maritime fuels. In July 2025, a saving of 25,000 tons of CO₂ equivalent was already realized thanks to biofuels from the second generation, produced from waste and residual flows.
The collaboration uses the so-called Book & Claim method, so that emission reductions can be booked without the physical fuel being used in the same chain. Hapag-Lloyd wants to reach a climate-neutral fleet by 2045, DHL is aiming for net-no-out emissions in 2050.
