From Today, Friday, August 22,, “ StopPen Deutsche Post and DHL Parcel Germany for business customers by sending so -called ‘minimis’ packages to the US.
Earlier this week it was announced that Bpost will also stop, due to uncertainty about the new American import rates.
Until now, the ‘Minimis’ exemption in the US applied: shipments with a value lower than 800 dollars were exempt from import duties. However, that regulation will disappear on August 29, so that all the packages – including those under 800 dollars – are subject to the new input rates.
Since there is no clear system to collect and pay those charges, various courier companies that are temporarily suspended until clear agreements have been worked out with American customs and post operators.
