Supply chain software vendor Descartes Systems Group today said it has paid $40 million to acquire Finale Inventory, a California-based provider of cloud-based inventory management solutions designed to support e-commerce businesses across their growth lifecycle.
Palo Alto, California-based Finale says it helps growing e-commerce sellers keep stock levels accurate across multiple ecommerce sales and fulfillment channels, so they can avoid overselling, backorders, erroneous restocking, and negative customer experiences.
Waterloo, Ontario-based Descartes made the deal for $40 million up front, with a potential bonus of up to $15 million more, based on the combined business achieving revenue-based targets in each of the first two years post-acquisition, spanning 2027 and 2028. The move marks Descartes’ 34th acquisition since 2016.
“Finale expands the depth of our ecommerce solution suite by addressing a critical inflection point for growing ecommerce sellers,” Mikel Richardson, General Manager of ecommerce solutions at Descartes, said in a release. “As inventory complexity and risk of overselling increase, Finale provides the control and visibility merchants need to grow with confidence.”
