Daimler Truck has only been selling electric trucks for a few years, but there is already a need for a second life for the batteries of the first generation. In Mannheim, CB400 batteries (used in the Mercedes-Benz Eactros 300/400 and Eeconic) are fully overhauled for use as spare parts or in stationary applications. They are dismantled, cleaned and overhauled according to the latest standards, whereby the software is updated, among other things. According to Christian Vrbek, team leader Remanufacturing Zero Emission Vehicles at the after-sales service of Daimler Truck, this process saves about a third of COâ‚‚ emissions compared to the production of a new battery.
