DAF now offers special chassis for car transport in its XD, XF, XG and XG+series. These chassis have a low chassish height and a lowered or sloping roof, so that cars can be loaded above the cabin without exceeding the legally permitted height of 4 meters.
DAF has lowered the wheel suspension by 4 centimeters and uses 22.5 inch wheels and tires with a low profile to lower the chassish height to only 83 centimeters. The cabin can be adjusted to the type of cargo: for applications where vehicles are loaded behind the cabin, all cabins of the XD, XF, XG and XG+trucks are available. In addition, the XD range also includes models with an 18 cm lowered or sloping roof, so that cars can be loaded above the cabin. Even these versions retain a large sleeping cabin for the driver.
This chassis are available in 4 × 2 and 6 × 2. With this version (see photo), a light front axle of 4.5 tons with 17.5 inch wheels ensures optimum load capacity.
