Cosmo Tires collaborated with Western Iowa Tech Community College automotive technology students on a 1972 Chevy Blazer build for the 2025 SEMA Show in Las Vegas.
The project ranked among the top 10 SEMA builds at the show, Cosmo said.
Partnership and Project Overview
Cosmo Tires and Western Iowa Tech previously partnered at the 2024 SEMA Show. For 2025, the team returned with a Blazer fitted with Cosmo Mud Kickers, size 35X12.50R17LT.
“Working with Western Iowa Tech gives us the chance to invest in young talent while building something truly special for SEMA,” said Tony Gonzalez, CEO at Cosmo Tires. “This Blazer project embodies what Cosmo Tires stands for—performance, creativity, community and lifestyle.”
Build Details and Timeline
Based in Sioux City, Iowa, the student team took six months to transform a worn, rusted truck into a show-ready Blazer. With more than 30 contributors, the project emphasized hands-on skills and teamwork, Cosmo said.
Shane Sampson has been teaching at the school for 23 years.
“The most rewarding part has been seeing them gain skills that they will have their whole life,” Sampson said. “Watching them learn these skills and being able to independently apply them to virtually any vehicle is very fulfilling.”
“From the moment I saw the truck across the room of the Las Vegas Convention Center, I knew it was going to be a crowd favorite,” said Zack Calvin, marketing director of Cosmo Tires. “There was always so many attendees surrounding the vehicle it was nearly impossible to get pictures of the build. That’s a testament to the quality and effort put forth from the team at WITCC.”
