Corneel Geerts Transportgroep has been physically present in Venlo for several years and takes an important step in the expansion of his activities in the Netherlands on 1 October. A new logistics hub of 6000 m² will be put into use on that date.
Corneel Geerts Transportgroep is currently renting a building of 11,000 m² that used to be used by Lanxess. However, the new hub, the construction of which is almost completed, will be of a completely different order: on a site of 1.2 hectares, a modern warehouse of 6000 m² (plus 1000 m² office space) is raised, which will be officially taken into use on 1 October.
The building was built by 3L Capital, a Dutch investment fund owned by Paul de Vries. “We become the owner of the building as soon as it is fully operational,” said Sven Geerts, director of Corneel Geerts Transportgroep. “We will then have 8000 pallet places in a building of 12.5 meters high. Together with that in Maasmechelen, this hub will function as a hub for our traffic, in particular within our distribution network Distri24, but also within the European transport network EFA. We will also be able to offer logistical services with added value, and for Adr-Goods, and among others” “
The building is designed to be CO2 neutral, with solar panels on the roof, underfloor heating and a constant temperature control. “This ecological aspect is very important to attract new customers,” continues Sven Geerts. “However, since we do not yet have a fleet in the Netherlands, we will not immediately install charging points for electric trucks. However, it is a subject that we follow closely and about which we will communicate next year.”
The Dutch location of Corneel Geerts Transportgroep currently has nine full -time employees, but Sven Geerts hopes that this number will increase after the opening of the new Hub. “We are proud of where we come from, but even more proud of where we are going,” he concludes.
