Colruyt Group temporarily opts for HVO100-Biodiesel as an extra step to zero-emissions

Must read

Colruyt Group is taking a new step in his transition to sustainable mobility. In anticipation of a full switch to zero-emissionship vehicles, the group temporarily focuses on HVO100, a sustainable biodiesel based on waste and residual flows. This biofuel will be used from June for part of the heavy freight transport in Belgium.

The HVO100 diesel (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) reduces COâ‚‚ emissions to 90% compared to conventional diesel and fits in existing diesel engines without technical adjustments. Colruyt Group uses this solution as an intermediate step, in addition to the already used battery-electric trucks and vehicles on green hydrogen.

The choice for HVO100 is part of Colruyt Group Logistics’ wider strategy to make its transport activities more sustainable. The company states that a mix of technologies is necessary to make its logistics carbon -free, given the current restrictions on charging infrastructure and the availability of heavy electric trucks.

Colruyt emphasizes that this is a temporary solution: “HVO100 is not an end point, but a complementary step towards a fully emission -free logistics network.”
