Brussels Airport opens logistics hub Brucargo Centraal

Must read

Brussels Airport has officially opened Brucargo Centraal, a new logistics site of 83,500 m² in the heart of the cargo zone. Eight outdated buildings made way for three modern complexes with 34,000 m² of warehouses and offices. The investment of 70 million euros provides 30% more storage capacity, while 20% of the pavement makes way for greenery. Mobility was also improved with a parking tower, charging points for electric vehicles and infrastructure for cyclists and pedestrians.

With 733,000 tons of goods transported in 2024 and an average annual growth of 6% since 2019, Brussels Airport is strengthening its position as a European logistics and pharmaceutical hub. “Brucargo Centraal offers companies the space and flexibility to grow in a changing market,” says CEO Arnaud Feist.

Sustainability is central

Sustainability was central to the project. The old buildings were demolished in a circular manner, the new structures were constructed in wood and all buildings obtained a BREEAM Excellent certificate. Renewable energy, geothermal heating and more natural light make the site an example of sustainable infrastructure. “With Brucargo Centraal we are accelerating the sustainable transition of our cargo zone,” says A. Feist.

Five logistics players will move into the new hub: Nippon Express, DSV Air & Sea, Hazgo, EV Cargo and Deny Cargo. Together they provide a strong mix of international and local expertise and confirm the appeal of Brussels Airport as a logistics hotspot.
