Bridgestone Retail Operations (BSRO) will support the planting of 86,825 tree seedlings thanks to its third annual app campaign, “Download the App, Plant a Tree.” The effort encouraged customers at Firestone Complete Auto Care and Tires Plus to go digital.
The campaign ran between Earth Day and the end of Bridgestone’s Sustainable Business Week. During that period, BSRO pledged to plant one tree for each My Firestone or Tires Plus app download.
Bridgestone App Campaign Provides Seedlings to Reforest Mississippi River Delta
BSRO selected The Nature Conservancy to lead the reforestation effort, funded by a $57,500 donation from the company. The initiative will plant 86,825 seedlings across 287 acres in the Mississippi River Delta region. The reforestation will help reduce flooding and restore farmland at risk.
“Our annual Plant a Tree campaign is one of the many ways our customers continue to show up and serve as enthusiastic partners in our sustainability journey throughout the year,” said Marko Ibrahim, President, Bridgestone Retail Operations. “We are grateful for their support.”
Digital Apps Help Cut Paper Waste
The My Firestone and Tires Plus apps serve as digital glove boxes, Bridgestone said. They allow users to book appointments, track vehicle service history, and access special offers. Encouraging downloads reduces reliance on paper across BSRO’s 2,200-plus retail stores. The Bridgestone app campaign supports a larger digital transformation to streamline operations and reduce environmental impact, it said.
Beyond tree planting, BSRO has broadened its sustainability focus. The company said it is expanding services and infrastructure for electric vehicles and recycling nearly all store materials and byproducts.
