From Monday, December 8, private customers in Belgium can once again send parcels to the United States. bpost has introduced a new procedure that complies with the changed US customs requirements.
When sending, customers must indicate, among other things, the contents, value and country of origin of the package. Not only the regular shipping costs will be charged, but also the applicable import duties and a small processing fee.
There remains one exception: parcels registered as gifts, from private individual to private individual, with a value below 100 USD, are exempt from import duties. These shipments only have a fixed processing fee of USD 2.
The restart applies to private customers and small businesses. For professional contract customers, shipping to the US had already remained possible via bpostgroup’s international solutions.
