Two Canadian motor carriers took home the grand prize in the Truckload Carriers Association’s Fleet Safety Awards.
In the small carrier division, the Grand Prize was awarded to Mill Creek Motor Freight out of Ayr, Ontario, Canada, for fleets with total annual mileage of less than 25 million miles. This was the first year for Mill Creek to earn the Grand Prize.
Part of the Kriska Transportation Group, Mill Creek operates a fleet of roughly 200 trucks providing cross-border truckload and LTL service across Canada, the United States and Mexico, with a strong focus on automotive and just-in-time freight.

In the large carrier division, the Grand Prize winner was Bison Transport out of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada (total annual mileage of 25 million or more).
This marks the carrier’s 17th TCA Fleet Safety Award Grand Prize, but a long streak of consecutive wins was broken last year when the Grand Prize for large carriers went to Nussbaum Transportation.
Bison Transport operates one of Canada’s largest truckload fleets, providing cross-border freight service throughout Canada and the United States. Founded in 1969, the carrier runs roughly 2,000 tractors and is widely recognized for its strong safety culture and driver training programs.
Both carriers demonstrated exceptional safety programs and impressive accident frequency ratios over the last year, according to TCA.

Although they are based in Canada, both Bison and Mill Creek have operations across Canada, the U.S. and Mexico.
The awards marked the culmination of TCA’s 2026 Annual Convention in Orlando, Florida. The contest is sponsored by Great West Casualty Company and Gallagher.
Both companies, as well as all carriers that placed in the top three of their mileage-based divisions, will be recognized again during TCA’s 2026 Safety & Security Meeting, to be held June 7-9 in Oklahoma City.
