Be.EV to create Shropshire’s biggest charging hub

Must read

The biggest EV charging hub in Shropshire will be at Telford Centre, making it easier than ever to charge electric cars while visitors shop, dine, or enjoy some entertainment.

Shoppers at the million square foot Shopping Centre, which boasts over 160 stores, cafés and restaurants, will have 18 ultra-fast 300kW chargers at their fingertips, thanks to a new partnership with Be.EV, one of the UK’s fastest-growing EV charging networks.

These chargers are capable of delivering up to 325 miles of range in just 20 minutes. That’s enough time to grab a coffee or browse favourite stores — all while drivers’ EVs power up quickly and hassle-free.

Located in the restaurant and cinema car park, the new charging hub sits right where shoppers spend their time, alongside big-name retailers like Next, Primark, M&S, and H&M — so visitors can shop and charge in one convenient stop.

Telford currently has one of the lowest levels of EV adoption in the country, but the introduction of the new chargers at the Telford Centre will make it easier for shoppers across Shropshire to switch to EVs. The retailers at the Telford Centre will reap the rewards of having the largest charging hub in the region, with one study showing that consumer spending increases from £36 per visit to £80 per visit after EV chargers are installed.

The Telford Centre is located less than a 5-minute drive from Junction 5 of the M54, which has an average of 54,000 vehicles passing through it every day.

The Centre is the largest undercover shopping mall in the area and is just a short 35-minute journey from Birmingham and just 25 minutes travel time from Shrewsbury and Wolverhampton.

To celebrate the launch, Be.EV is offering a Welcome Week promotion from 9th to 16th July — get 50% off charging fees when you pay via the Be.EV app, with no limits on usage and no minimum spend.

This £1,064,000 investment is the largest EV charging hub Be.EV has ever built — a real game changer for Telford Centre and shoppers across Shropshire, helping make the switch to electric easier than ever.

The deal comes soon after a £20 million investment by Be.EV into sites at five Schroders Capital real estate funds, which will see the installation of over 200 ultra-rapid Kempower EV charging bays across 22 major UK retail and leisure sites.

Asif Ghafoor, CEO of Be.EV, said: “This milestone at Telford Centre shows exactly why Be.EV is the trusted partner of choice for retailers and communities across the UK.

“It’s not just about building charging points — it’s about delivering reliable, future-proof infrastructure that keeps pace with the rapidly growing EV market.

“This £1 million investment is a bold statement of our ambition to make ultra-fast, convenient charging accessible to everyone, right where they live, work, and shop. We’re proud to be leading the charge towards a cleaner, greener future.”

Glynn Morrow, Centre Manager at Telford Centre, said: “We’re very pleased to be able to offer visitors to Telford Centre the ability to also charge their electric vehicles while they visit us to shop, dine or enjoy our leisure offering. We’re sure the facility will be very popular with customers”.
