Aurora and McLeod to launch TMS for autonomous trucks

Must read

The self-driving truck technology vendor Aurora has teamed with supply chain tech firm McLeod Software to launch a transportation management system (TMS) for autonomous trucks, calling the product an industry first.

Initial beta testing is happening now, with plans to formally roll out to McLeod customers in 2026, the companies said on August 28.

According to the partners, the collaboration lays the foundation for a superior user experience for mutual customers utilizing Aurora’s autonomous trucks, which will help increase industry adoption of self-driving trucking technology.

The new TMS design is necessary because self-driving trucks are designed to move freight safely, more efficiently, and around the clock, enabling carriers to significantly increase asset utilization and revenue. But to generate the best use of that new approach, the autonomous trucks must seamlessly integrate into customer’s existing operations and transportation management processes without adding unnecessary complexity or friction.

Alabama-based McLeod said the integration will enable mutual customers to utilize their McLeod TMS to manage critical processes such as load tender and acceptance of autonomous shipments, dispatch, and load visibility—making it easy for McLeod customers to onboard, manage, and integrate autonomous trucks into their business. At the same time, Pittsburgh-based Aurora will also be able to tap into McLeod’s deep roster of customers, further accelerating industry adoption of self-driving trucks.
