ALAN seeks nominations for humanitarian awards

Must read

Do you know a supply chain pro who has demonstrated an ongoing commitment to helping others in times of crisis? If so, the disaster recovery nonprofit the American Logistics Aid Network (ALAN) wants to hear from you. The group has opened nominations for its ninth annual Humanitarian Logistics Awards, and it would like your help identifying deserving candidates.

Nominations can be submitted online at www.alanaid.org and are due by June 30. Winners will be announced this fall at ALAN’s 20th anniversary celebration during the annual CSCMP EDGE Conference, which takes place Oct. 5–8 in National Harbor, Maryland.

The awards, which are open to both individuals and businesses, are presented in four categories: Outstanding Contribution to Disaster Relief; Employee Engagement; Research/Academic Contribution; and Lifetime Achievement.

“Humanitarian relief wouldn’t happen without the facilitation and support of the supply chain community,” ALAN Executive Director Kathy Fulton said in a release. “These awards were created to shine a light on that generosity. While we at ALAN know a lot about what many organizations and individuals are doing to support disaster relief efforts, there are still many others whose life-changing work we won’t be made aware of—and able to honor—unless someone takes the time to nominate them.”
