Since 2022, CEVA Logistics has been using its Ghislenghien location for the storage and overhaul of used batteries of electric vehicles. The French-American logistics service provider will now set up Battery Logistics centers in various other European countries.
The site that CEVA Logistics operates in Ghislenghien used to be the property of Gefco, a company that was taken over by Ceva Logistics in 2022. Cars are stored that are waiting for delivery, but the site also catches cars that are at the end of their lifespan. That is why Ceva Logistics installed its first logistics center for batteries of electric vehicles in 2022. Thanks to the experience gained in these three years, the logistics service provider can launch a complete Reverse Logistics service for these batteries.
In addition to Belgium, Battery Logistics Centers in France, the United Kingdom and Spain will also be put into use this year. Ceva is planning to open even more centers in Germany, Italy, Poland, Sweden, Switzerland, the Netherlands and the Czech Republic in 2026 and 2027. CEVA organizes the collection of batteries with car dealers, car traders and processing centers for discarded vehicles and brings them to one of his specialized centers. Every logistics center for batteries has ADR storage rooms and secure, temperature-controlled storage units. The diagnosis, deep discharge, dismantling and overhaul of the batteries are performed in a specialized workplace. After revision or dismantling, Ceva delivers the modules and the waste to recycling centers.
