The Trafiroad company, specialized in road markings, has received the keys to a new Mercedes-Benz Actros 2845L. In itself nothing special, were it not for the truck to be equipped with an extra hydrostatic transmission with which epoxy paint can be sprayed much more accurately.
Road marking companies still often use manual systems to apply paint to the road surface. Trafiroad and ATS already developed its own spray system in 2005 with which larger surfaces can be treated faster and more evenly. The two partners have been working since 2023 on a new version of this system, which is now fully automated and where the flow is regulated on the basis of the driving speed and the permeability of the road surface.
To be able to use this system, the speed of the truck must be able to be controlled very accurately. There comes the extra hydrostatic transmission of the Actros 2845L supplied by Hedin Automotive with bodywork by Baetens: this makes joystick control and a very accurate adjustable speed possible, even in complex conditions. For example, at a constant speed of 4 km/h on a slope of 6 %, work can be done.
