A long cab at Renault Trucks?

Must read

Announced two years ago, Renault Trucks and Lamberet’s Dolphin prototype was exhibited on Lamberet’s stand at the Solutrans fair. However, the prototype, which is particularly aerodynamic, was only shown from the outside and is characterized by a tractor with larger dimensions. However, it is not a harbinger of a future series cabin…

The two partners have worked together to develop a 100% electric combination that is suitable for refrigerated transport. The trailer is therefore equipped with a high-voltage battery, an axle with energy recovery and an energy management system that supplies the cooling unit with power. It is of course equipped with numerous aerodynamic features that reduce air resistance by 8 to 12%.

As for the tractor, Renault Trucks had announced major advances in the human-machine interface (even unveiling an image of the future dashboard at the launch of the project in 2023), but the vehicle’s cabin was hidden behind large black curtains and it was impossible to get on board. The trigger, on the other hand, has been clearly extended. A slight extension at the front (just over four inches), but very noticeable at the rear of the cabin. In the field of driver assistance systems, Renault Trucks has also installed a 360° camera system that anticipates future GSR2 regulations.

Test drives with this research vehicle will start in 2026.
