Is Windrose going to build a factory in Antwerp?

Must read

As time reports, the Chinese manufacturer of electric trucks has found Windrose fresh money and a new credit line to continue its industrial and commercial launch. Time also confirms that a factory could eventually be built in Antwerp.

Just like all new manufacturers of electric trucks, Windrose must regularly refinance itself pending sufficient turnover from the sale of vehicles. The Chinese manufacturer managed to raise $ 110 million in April 2024. According to De Tijd, a new investment round has just earned him $ 100 million extra capital, as well as a new credit line of 50 million euros. With regard to the IPO of Windrose, it would be postponed with another quarter until the beginning of 2026.

The head office of Windrose Holding has been located in Antwerp since December 2024 and CEO Wen Han had clearly announced its intention to build its European factory in the port city. On 19 May, however, Windrose officially announced the purchase of a 22 -hectare site in Onnaing, in northern France, to quickly build a factory that can produce 4000 electric trucks per year. This announcement followed the refusal of two Belgian institutional investors (the Société Fédérale de Partication and the Participation Company Flanders) to invest in Windrose.

End of the Antwerp hope? Not necessary, because time confirms that Windrose has asked the developer of Wellen to look for a site for a factory. According to various sources, the industrial estate in Antwerp would not serve for the assembly, but for the finishing of the vehicles.
