Earlier in 2025, in Port Hedland, Western Australia, Tyrecycle opened Australia’s first dedicated OTR tyre recycling plant, getting further use from tyres that were previously buried or stockpiled. Located in the Pilbara region’s mining epicentre, the Port Hedland facility has the capacity to processes 30,000 tonnes of OTR tyres annually. The plant operates under harsh Pilbara conditions, using DomeShelter Australia’s purpose-built dome structures to protect equipment and workers. Operations manager Kane Goldsmith noted that these structures ensure safe, efficient processing in one of Australia’s toughest industrial environments.
