Electric trucks can now be fast charging at two brand new stations of Fastned, along the E17 near Gentbrugge. In addition to 16 chargers of 400 kW for passenger cars, both charging locations also count two equally powerful for e-trucks.
Charging a truck battery from 20% to 80% requires 40 to 45 minutes. To comfortably bridge that waiting time, the new charging stations have a restaurant, a 24/7 self -service store, toilets and showers. The entire location of more than 8000 m² is fully electric, including kitchen and store, and emission -free in use.
“Expand quickly”
“More and more transport companies are focusing on electrifying their fleet,” says Strategy Director Eline Begemann of Fastned. “The demand for charging capacity is therefore increasing, and will continue to increase. There are already 17 times as many electric trucks on Belgian roads than five years ago. On our loading location in Peutie, there are already electric trucks’ energy trucks every day today. If that trend continues, we will have to expand quickly here.”
For Fastned this is the 47th charging station in Belgium, the total network has more than 380 stations in nine countries. The company wants to have 50 locations in our country by the end of 2025 and expand a European network of 1000 stations in 2030.
