At the European Logistics Campus (ELC) of Nike in Laakdal and Ham, 60 jobs will soon disappear in the Technology department. Yesterday the first meeting of the information and consultation round took place, after the management announced a collective dismissal on Tuesday. The company scraps 80 full -time equivalents, but part of it are open vacancies. The net loss would be limited to 60 jobs.
The procedure is part of the wider savings round of 2 billion dollars worldwide that Nike announced earlier. With about 5,000 employees, the ELC remains the largest employer in the Kempen region. From this site Nike supplies all of Europe, parts of Africa and the Middle East.
