On Tuesday 2 September we learned the death of Gustave Portier at the age of 93. At the age of 21 he joined the company of his father-in-law Louis Cop-Bolle, who specialized in general construction work. In the 60s and 70s, this company grew into a real group that was active in the extraction and breaking of gravel, the sale and maintenance of machines and the production of concrete and prefab elements. These activities are bundled today under the name Prefer. In March 1982, Gustave Portier founded the Société Industrielle de Renory, who was involved in the transfer, storage and packaging of various products from a multimodal terminal in Angleur. That was the beginning of the Novandi group, which became an important player in the field of multimodal logistics solutions in Liège, but also in Hainaut and West Flanders (since Novandi, together with the Dufour group from Tournai, checks the Terminal van Avelgem). Novandi has been completely independent of preferen since 2015.
The editors of TransportMedia express her condolences to the entire Portier family, in particular to Philippe Portier, who is head of Novandi today.
