Cooperation in Transport provides Flemish decorative growers considerable benefits. This is evident from the Florlog project of the Flemish Institute for Logistics (VIL) and the Practice Center for Agriculture and Horticulture Viaverda, presented today during Florall in Waregem Expo. Transport in group is on average up to 50% cheaper than individual transport. Moreover, the analyzes show that fixed delivery times and evening transport generate clear efficiency gains.
VIL and Viaverda therefore developed the digital flalog tool. The application allows decorative growers to plan, simulate and compare their transport flows. The tool shows at a glance which option – own transport, external transport or group transport – is the most profitable. For example, Florlog lowers the threshold to work together and growers gain insight into the possible savings.
The project has been carried out for the past two years in collaboration with 17 companies and organizations. VIL and Viaverda emphasize that Florlog can be used immediately and can easily be integrated into the daily functioning of the growers.
