Automated Tire Change System from PitPro Cuts Downtime

Must read

PitPro Automation has introduced a fully automated tire change system designed for Class 3 and smaller fleet vehicles. The platform completes four tire changes in under 15 minutes, reducing vehicle downtime by 80-90% compared to traditional methods that can take between 1.5 and 4 hours, the company said.

Fleet owners can now request early access for pilot installations, with nationwide availability set for 2026.

Fleet Downtime and Safety

Tire servicing remains one of the most physically demanding, injury-prone, and time-consuming maintenance tasks. PitPro said its automated tire change system directly addresses these challenges.

“Managing service operations across 10,000+ Ford dealers, I saw how downtime and technician shortages cripple fleet profitability daily. PitPro’s fleet-focused automation directly solves these operational challenges that impact customer deliveries while improving efficiency,” said Ted Cannis, Former CEO of Ford Pro and Ford Customer Service Division.

Automated Tire Change System Designed for Service Bays

The PitPro system fits into a single service bay for vehicles Class 2/3 and below. Once a vehicle drives onto the platform, the company says two gantries work together to coordinate a full tire change with minimal manual labor. This synchronized operation boosts service consistency while freeing up technicians for other tasks, PitPro said.

PitPro is initially targeting the $50 billion tire service segment within the broader $175 billion domestic automotive repair market. Future expansion will include automated services for brakes, alignment, and preventive maintenance.
