Service and repair of commercial vehicles, from light- to heavy-duty vehicles, presents challenges and complexities that passenger vehicle technicians never have to contend with, including the made-to-spec nature of heavy-duty vehicles.
Operator/owners, dedicated-CV technicians, and fleet technicians must depend on diagnostics and service solutions that meet the challenges of maintaining, servicing, and repairing these almost-constant-use vehicles essential to all types of industries’ bottom line. Autel understands these challenges and has developed a lineup of tools to meet every kind of CV technician’s needs; let’s take a look at the lineup.
The flagship of the Autel CV diagnostic tool line is the MaxiSYS 909CV tablet, and it’s a wireless, Android-based 9.7-inch touchscreen powerhouse of a solution offering extensive coverage for light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles (Truck Classes 1 through 9), plus comprehensive coverage of agriculture and off-road construction vehicles.
Among the brands covered are Mercedes-Benz, Ford, Hino, and Chevy for light-weight vehicles, Thomas Built, Blue Bird, IC Bus, Volkswagen, and Volvo for buses, and Freightliner, International, Kenworth, Mack, Peterbilt, Sterling, Volkswagen, and Volvo for heavy-duty vehicles.
The very nature of heavy-duty vehicle design—multi-brand systems sharing one chassis—can challenge technicians. All Autel’s CV tablets offer an Expert mode to provide direct access to OE-specific systems, including engine, transmission, and braking systems. Engine coverage includes Detroit, Mack, Cummins, Caterpillar, Navistar, and Paccar, as well as ABS coverage for Bendix and WABCO. The tablet also offers trailer ABS diagnostics.
Paired with the supplied MaxiFlash VCI, the MS909CV supports an array of heavy-duty and commercial protocols, including DoIP, PLC J2497, CAN FD, SAE-J1939, -J1708, -J1587, -J1850 PWM, J1850 VPW, and is a J2534 passthru programming device. The MS909CV boasts a substantial direct-access service menu and leads the industry in DPF engine regen capability. It also provides a dynamic graphical interface for the DPF system and a pre-DPF regen checklist.
In addition, the tablet enables technicians to perform dynamic Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) calibrations straight out of the box, and static calibrations on Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and RAM ProMaster vans, and trucks, and trailers equipped with the Bendix Wingman system with the purchase of an Autel ADAS Frame System.
The MS908CVII offers similar Class 1 to Class 9 vehicle coverage to the MS909CV but lacks diagnostics, testing, and service software for construction and agriculture vehicles. It also does not support newer commercial vehicle protocols. However, users can purchase a VCI200 to pair with the tablet to support these protocols. The 908CVII offers no ADAS calibration capabilties, nor does it ship with the MaxiBAS B200 battery, starter, and charging system tester.
The MaxiDiag MD600CV is a true innovation for technician-users performing diagnostics and services on Class 3 to 9 vehicles. Owners/operators and fleet technicians asked for a fast, easy-to-use wireless handheld tablet with exceptional vehicle, system, and service coverage. That’s the MD600CV.Â
The tablet is lightweight, just under a pound, and is an Android-based touchscreen tablet with excellent battery life, an 8 megapixel camera, and 64 GB of software and data storage capacity. It has an advanced wireless vehicle communication interface, the Autel MaxiVCI V200, which supports J1708, J1939, J1587, CDL, and PLC protocols.
The MD600CV’s compact size makes it the perfect go-to tablet for owners/operators who like to take a tool onboard for emergencies and fleet technicians who need a tool to perform quick systems triage or a reset or regen on the go, or need an in-shop backup for when their more advanced tools are in use.
Whatever the need, whether it is on-the-road triage or in-shop advanced diagnostics or ADAS calibrations, Autel has CV diagnostics and service solutions to help you get it done.
