As part of its ongoing drive toward net zero, Knowles Logistics has invested in the E-tech D18 – a significant step forward in reducing carbon emissions that offers customers a more sustainable supply chain solution while maintaining high standards of service and efficiency.
“As a business deeply committed to sustainability, we are proud to be leading the charge in decarbonising the logistics industry,” said Alex Knowles, Managing Director, Knowles Logistics. “The introduction of our new Renault 19-tonne electric vehicle marks another milestone in our journey toward net zero, reinforcing our mission to provide customers with sustainable and future-ready transport solutions.”
Powered by 265 kWh, 600 V E-Tech lithium-ion batteries, Renault’s E-tech D18 has a range of up to 180km (112 miles) and plays a crucial role in reducing Knowles Logistics’ environmental footprint while addressing the increasing demand for green logistics solutions.
Transitioning to electric vehicles not only lowers emissions but also reduces noise pollution and operational costs, benefiting both the environment and customers. The company has committed to reducing its carbon footprint by half by 2035 by transitioning the full fleet to low-carbon alternatives and achieving net-zero carbon emissions from all warehouses and offices using electricity from 100% renewable energy sources.
This year, Knowles will optimise transport, seek opportunities for backhaul and consolidation, and improve driver training and incentives to reduce fuel consumption.
Alex Knowles added: “With a strong focus on innovation and sustainability, Knowles Logistics remains at the forefront of the industry, continuously exploring new technologies and strategies to drive down emissions.”
This latest investment aligns with the company’s broader ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) objectives, ensuring it remains a key player in shaping a greener future for logistics.
This latest vehicle adds to Knowles’ 385 strong fleet, which includes 160 trucks including five electric vehicles and 220 trailers.
1 The 19-tonne gross vehicle weight is permitted under UK regulatory dispensation for electric vehicles, allowing this 18-tonne base model to operate at an increased weight to account for battery mass.
