Supply chain software vendor Descartes Systems Group has paid $2 million to acquire PackageRoute, a Sammamish, Washington-based provider of fleet performance analytics software for final-mile carriers serving FedEx Ground.
PackageRoute offers a mobile and web-based platform that provides real-time visibility into package deliveries, route optimization, and fleet management. Its software integrates with pickup and delivery data, enabling contractors and drivers to make better-informed decisions and operate more efficiently, the firm said.
“PackageRoute works primarily with subcontracted delivery service providers working as agents for larger carriers,” James Wee, General Manager of Routing, Mobile and Telematics at Descartes, said in a release. “We believe PackageRoute customers can get substantial value from our integrated Descartes GroundCloud routing, safety and compliance solutions.”
Ontario-based Descartes says its GroundCloud platform helps ensure seamless operations, end-to-end visibility, and standards of safety and compliance are met, including helping final-mile carriers comply with the various safety mandates of large transportation brands.
The deal marks Descartes’ 33rd acquisition since 2016, following its purchase of transportation management system (TMS) software vendor 3GTMS for $115 million in March.
