Volvo Group and Daimler Truck had already announced that they would work together on the development of a new software -driven vehicle platform. This joint venture is named Coretura and will be located in Gothenburg.
The mission is to develop a standardized and open software platform and a operating system for trucks. Based on that, each of both constructors can develop their own vehicles. Coretura will also supply centralized control units that can process large amounts of data. “As a result, the development cycles of the software and the hardware can be disconnected from each other. End customers can then buy and update digital applications wirelessly,” said Johan Lundén, CEO of Coretura.
