It is certainly a week in which we say goodbye to great pioneers from the Belgian road transport sector: a few days after Frans Hendrickx, it is now Isidore Sandermans, founder of the company Sandermans Transport in Ghlin, of whom we learn that he has passed away at the age of almost 90.
In 1966, Isidore Sandermans took over the company from his father Jean and founded Sandermans Transports in Sint-Pieters-Woluwe. The opportunity to provide transport for a cardboard factory in Hainaut prompted him to open a branch in Ghlin, where the company is still located today. The company currently employs more than sixty people and is developing highly innovative projects, such as a storage and recycling center for car batteries in collaboration with the Japanese group Nissin.
As for Isidore Sandermans: even in old age, his passion for trucks remained undiminished. “At the age of 86, my father remained passionate about transport and remained in control of the purchase of vehicles for the company,” said his daughter Chantal in a report that we dedicated to Sandermans Transports four years ago.
The entire Transportmedia team expresses its sincere condolences to his family and to all employees of Sandermans Transports.
