This is news that will make Scania fans happy: the Swedish manufacturer will produce the Longline cab, which has so far been custom-made, in series. Laxå Special Vehicles remains responsible for the cab, but it will be included in the production program at Scania’s plant in Södertälje.
The Longline cab (the first units of which were produced in 2022) combines the CrewCab cab (also manufactured by Laxå Special Vehicles) with the high-roof S cab. Scania has not yet released any information about the interior dimensions of the Longline, except that the headroom will be more than 2 meters. The Longline complies with European IVD legislation (Increased Vehicle Dimensions)… which DAF had already used to create the XG+ cabin. Initially it will be available in two length versions – 28 and 31.
But what will the extra space be used for? From the factory we can expect a limited basic configuration behind the seats and options such as a larger bed with storage or shelves, but Scania promises mounting points that will allow customers (or specialist fitters) to design interiors based on their specific requirements. Scania, in collaboration with a specialist Swedish painter, will also offer high-quality paint options in all available car colours.
Sales of the Longline will start in April 2026, with first deliveries scheduled for this fall.
