Thermo King is launching a new series called E-Volution, consisting of electric refrigeration units for trucks from 7.5 to 26 tons, regardless of whether they are equipped with a diesel or electric drive. According to the manufacturer, an E-Volution unit reduces CO₂ emissions by 45% compared to diesel refrigeration units.
At the heart of this new range is an all-new integrated electrical architecture, designed to simplify installation and reduce component complexity. There are fewer moving parts, which reduces wear and maintenance requirements. In addition, the high-voltage DC system makes it possible to connect an E-Volution generator directly to the electric PTO shaft, which also works on high-voltage DC, of electric trucks. Finally, the engineers have managed to minimize energy losses during the conversion from alternating current to direct current through a variable speed system that can also be controlled by the driver, in particular to reduce noise levels in certain urban areas.
