bpost has put into use the largest parcel locker in the country in Ghent. The new bbox machine, located in the Klipperstraat next to the bpost distribution center, is 13 meters long, weighs approximately 4 tons and has 244 doors in which customers can collect, send or return parcels 24/7. Ghent mayor Mathias De Clercq inaugurated the machine.
The record vending machine consists of 26 modules and offers different door sizes, including three extra-large compartments for packages up to 175 cm high. This means that bpost focuses not only on private customers, but also on companies that want to send or receive larger goods.
By 2026, bpost wants to have more than 3,500 bbox locations in Belgium. The use of bboxes in our country has increased by 62% over the past 12 months. Returning or sending parcels via bbox is also gaining popularity, with an increase of 42% over the same period. In addition, bpost continues to invest in other collection options, such as post offices, Parcel Points and bbox boutiques in larger cities.
