Hyundai has been driving its Xcient Fuel Cell fuel cell trucks for several years, first in Switzerland and then in other European countries. The fleet currently consists of 165 vehicles and has exceeded the 20 million kilometer mark.
The Hyundai Xcient Fuel Cell trucks are currently operating in Switzerland, Germany, France, the Netherlands and Austria. Today they fulfill much broader tasks than in 2020, when the first units hit the road in Switzerland: food logistics, beverage transport, distribution to supermarkets, garbage trucks and crane trucks with an electric PTO.
The Xcient Fuel Cell is now in its second generation, which has had an improved fuel cell system since 2025. Since 2023, it has also been operating in North America, where 63 trucks are currently in use (30 in California, 21 in Georgia and 12 in British Columbia, Canada).
