On Wednesday February 11, Nebim, together with Educam and the Regional Technological Center East Flanders, is organizing an information session on dual learning. Their goal? Show how young people can maximize their chances on the labor market by combining learning and work.
“In a sector where technological progress is happening at breakneck speed, a traditional training is increasingly less and less sufficient. We are looking for technical profiles who not only have knowledge, but who are also practically deployable, are familiar with modern working methods and know what is expected on the work floor,” explains Jochem Pannecoucke (Team Leader Technical Trainers at Nebim). “For young people following a technical education, practical experience is becoming increasingly important to make the transition to work successfully. Dual learning responds to this by structurally combining school and workplace, so that competencies are not only learned, but also immediately applied.”
According to him, this approach helps young people to gain insight more quickly into the profession for which they are learning: “By actively participating in a professional environment during their training, young people not only develop technical skills, but also the right work attitude and sense of responsibility. They also get in touch with the reality of the profession. This increases their self-confidence and their employability.”
