According to figures from the ICCT, Daimler Truck has clearly taken the first place in the electric truck market. The German manufacturer clearly benefits from the introduction of the Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 with drive axle.
The market share of electric trucks at Daimler Truck amounted to a total of 6.3% in the first three quarters of 2025, according to ICCT figures. This is a spectacular increase compared to the same period in 2024. Daimler Truck therefore has a better penetration rate than Volvo Trucks and Renault Trucks, which initially dominated the market, but whose share of electric trucks is now lower than a year ago: 3.1% at Renault Trucks and 2.3% at Volvo Trucks. The market share of electric trucks is increasing for the other brands, but remains low: 1.2% at Scania, 0.8% at MAN, 0.3% at DAF and 0.1% at Iveco.
The ICCT publishes these figures at the time when manufacturers have to submit their report to the Commission: it is now checked whether they have managed to reduce their average CO2 emissions by 15% compared to the reference year (2019-2020). According to the ICCT, most manufacturers worked hard on the energy efficiency of their diesel engines at the beginning of the decade, building up credits that they can now put to good use. Daimler Truck, on the other hand, had some catching up to do and rising sales of the eActros 600 should help them do so.
