On Friday, dozens of French trade unionists took action at the Katoen Natie headquarters in Antwerp. The reason is the possible elimination of 68 jobs at Logifare in Moselle, France, a recently acquired subsidiary of the group. This was reported by the Belgian socialist unions UBT-FGTB and ABVV, which supported the action. Belgian trade union members joined their colleagues from the French trade unions Force Ouvrière (FO) and CGT in solidarity.
The unions argue that there is sufficient work and criticize the fact that permanent employees would be replaced by temporary workers. In Moselle, 68 jobs would disappear because Logifare is losing customers. The French unions consider the current social plan inadequate and demand that Katoen Natie, which they believe is financially healthy, puts a stronger plan on the table.
