Logistics in Wallonia becomes a partner of Open Logistics Foundation

Must read

The organization Open Logistics Foundation and Logistics in Wallonia have entered into a cooperation agreement. In concrete terms, this collaboration will benefit the members of Logistics in Wallonia, who will have access to open source code to develop new digital solutions.

Open Logistics Foundation is a non-profit organization based in Dortmund. It is fully financed by industrial partners and logistics companies. Its overall goal is to solve the most pressing problems of the logistics community and the supply chain using unified standards, tools and services, based on open source. OLF can also count on the expertise of Fraunhofer IML and German universities. “Open Logistics Foundation develops open source codes that can be used by competing companies to develop their own digital solutions. In a way, everyone saves time for everything that is not competitive and then continues their own developments,” explains Bernard Piette, director of Logistics in Wallonia. As an example, he cites the Open Logistics Foundation’s eCMR solution, which is compliant with legislation, interoperable and freely accessible to companies of all sizes.

The two organizations got to know each other within the European technology platform ETP ALICE (Alliance for Logistics Innovation through Collaboration in Europe), where they jointly contribute to the development of a European research and innovation strategy for logistics and supply chain management.
