VPD continues its growth in high-quality last mile delivery services. The Asse-based company recently launched two new hubs, which complement the existing network south of the capital.
VPD already had two hubs in Brussels, one in Ghent, one in Antwerp and one in Liège. “The hubs play a crucial role in both the delivery of the middle mile and the last mile. During the delivery of the middle mile, the goods are transported from our customers’ warehouses to the hubs. There we group and organize the flows for the delivery of the last mile, up to the end consumer. The location of these hubs is therefore carefully chosen to serve our customers and their consumers as efficiently and sustainably as possible,” explains Steven De Bruyn, CEO of VPD. The proximity to the end customer is all the more important because VPD has committed to using only electric vehicles (vans and trucks) within a few years.
The two new hubs are located in Lot and Marchienne, near Charleroi. “In both cases we open them because there is already a lot of volume, but they were simply not yet assigned to VPD. Both buildings are rented,” explains Steven De Bruyn.
