Transport De Stercke celebrates its 25th anniversary with five new Scanias

Must read

At the end of the 20th century, Mr De Stercke founded his transport company. A quarter of a century later, Transport De Stercke has just moved to a new building and has taken delivery of five new Scania R420 Supers. Its entire fleet now bears the Swedish manufacturer’s logo.

“We have moved to brand new buildings in Lokeren. And after 25 years, we also thought it was time to give our trucks a new look,” explains Benny De Stercke, who has been heading the company that specializes in container transport for two years. Four of the five new Scania R4250s are equipped with the company’s new colors. Why Scania? “We have been Scania customers for a long time and are always satisfied with the quality, service and consumption. This is further confirmed by the new Super drivetrain: our most economical drivers now achieve a consumption of 22 to 23 liters per 100 km,” emphasizes Benny De Stercke.

Two of these vehicles are also equipped with a Carrier Eco-Drive 30 generator that can power a refrigerated container. “Refrigerated transport is an area for which we expect growing demand from our customers. The genset is mounted directly on the tractor. This is a more practical solution for us than installing them on the semi-trailers, because it allows us to respond to demand more flexibly,” explains Benny De Stercke. The new site in Lokeren has also been designed to meet these needs: “We can connect the containers to the electricity grid and supply them with power thanks to our solar panels. This allows us to offer more flexibility, for example to adapt to the time slots imposed in the port terminals. In addition, we have a washing station that uses 100% rainwater for the maintenance of our vehicles.”
