The European Parliament today voted for the committee’s proposal to extend the exemption from toll taxes or kilometers for emission -free trucks for another five years. If the council follows the advice of the parliament, this exemption will apply until 31 June 2031. However, the decision will remain with the Member States. In Belgium, the situation is even more complicated, since trucks in Flanders and Brussels pay a kilometer charge and a kilometer allowance in Wallonia. Until now, Wallonia has not granted an advantage to electric trucks because the principle of the levy does not allow, as Minister of Mobility François Desquesnes confirmed again last week.
