Thermo King has developed the AxlePower technology, which recovers energy from braking or descending the vehicle to power the cooling machine. To make this technology more accessible, Thermo King is launching various new services, including a rental formula.
The AxlePower energy recovery system uses a special axle developed by BPW. The trailer can therefore cool 100% electrically, independent of the tractor, but is more expensive to purchase. That is why the idea has arisen to launch a long -term rental program (at least 12 months) without initial investment. The contract includes the maintenance and telematic control of the use of the trailer and the performance of the system.
In addition, Thermo King makes customers a calculator available to which they can calculate both the TCO and the return on investment with AxlePower technology, but can also estimate the CO2 savings compared to thermally driven cooling systems. Last but not least (because the status of electric axles is not yet clear) the manufacturer guarantees a homologation throughout Europe, so there are no regulatory barriers to the introduction of the AxlePower technology.
