The European Commission has decided to withdraw almost 2.8 billion euros for 94 projects for the mutual link of transport systems in Europe. Projects aimed at making transport systems more sustainable get the lion’s share (in particular the track gets 77 % of the budget), but safety is also not forgotten: more than 91 million euros is invested in the construction of safe and secure parking spaces.
In order to tackle problems related to the well -being of drivers, theft of goods and crime, Europe will co -finance the construction and/or modernization of secure parking spaces in ten Member States. These projects will deliver more than 3400 secure parking spaces for trucks. None of these new parking spaces is in Belgium.
