Transport Roosens further strengthens its fleet with ten new Scania R500. That order also included one tractor that will now be used as an EcoCombi and brings the number of vehicles of the Scandinavian brand at Roosens to 26.
According to owner Stephan Roosens, the fact that Scania is so popular in the Transport Roosens fleet is partly due to the drivers. “We are in any case satisfied with the quality of Scania, the fuel consumption of the tractors and the cooperation with our dealer, Scania Hamme. We have an excellent relationship with both Account Manager Eric Peirsman and with the workshop, which is the perfect addition to our own workshop. But our purchasing policy is also drawn up based on the driver: we want to pamper them. And Scania is well positioned in the market among real enthusiasts. We chose the Scania for the previous order. R450, but given the fairly heavy loads and containers with a refrigeration unit, we opted for the 500. A little more horsepower provides extra comfort on the road for the drivers and it should help to reduce consumption even further.”
A first LHV tractor
One of the 10 new tractors will be used as an LHV tractor. “The procedure to obtain LHV approval took quite a bit of effort, but from now on we can go on the road with three 20-foot containers at the same time. In this way we save fuel, we use our driver more efficiently and we help to limit traffic congestion somewhat.”
